Casual Date Night at Aladin Mess

Sunday, September 1, 2013

My boyfriend and I carry very different perspectives when it comes to food. I get excited about every meal that I am going to have and I like it to be well planned. I enjoy picking out restaurants and doing research on the latest food rave. One of my favourite things to do has got to be exploring some new tastes in town.

Quite the contrary, my boyfriend, who is also a food lover but a conservative (boring) one, is extremely reluctant to try out new stuffs and considers that as extra time-consuming due to his overly impatient personality. He does everything in an accelerated manner, which I cannot stand to be honest. I am pretty sure I was a snail in my last life :) According to his theory, the chances of disappointments are often far higher than surprises. But as I always argue, you'll never know if you never try!

On most days, he would be a perfect gentleman and let me go with my crazy head. But sometimes we know all we want is some quality assured comfort food after a long week of hard work. Crappy food, crappy mood! There are only a few restaurants that we would re-visit and Aladin Mess Curry House is surely one of them.

Denim shirt  Zara

Sunglasses  Ray-ban
Espadrilles  Chanel

It is not exactly the most fancy restaurants but it is comfortable enough for the hungry two.
Mango Lassi never goes wrong.
The boy is one happy kid eating his favourite Papadums.
I am crazy about Indian food. I just can't get over the creaminess of a good Chicken Korma. I cannot stand those bottled curry sold in supermarket. They often taste sour and lack of the creaminess of cashews. I learnt to love Indian cuisines one time when my friend took me to this small Indian family restaurant in Australia. I kept going back for more even if it takes an hour drive from the city! I miss it so much when I moved to Hong Kong and just when I thought I am never going to taste it again unless I go to India, the discovery of Aladin Mess is my happy remedy.
Beef Madras
Garlic Naan & Paneer Naan.

You gotta try their paneer naan. Paneer is a type of fresh cheese and they taste amazing in naan bread. Their paneer naan has a sweet taste to it and I couldn't stop repeating how great it is while shoving it into my greedy mouth! And I think I might have scared my boyfriend a little, he let me have all of the remaining paneer naan as a result. GG.
