Japanese Green Tea {Matcha} Cookies

Don't you all agree green is a beautiful color?
It is one of the most naturally seen color.
Pink and blue might be as pretty as green. But sometimes, when it comes to food, I always feel safer consuming foods that are green than pink or blue.

Japanese Green Tea {Matcha} Cookies

Mix the dry ingredients together: flour, matcha powder and salt.

Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the egg yolks and beat well.

Sift the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Mix until everything is incorporated.

Roll the dough into round logs and wrap them in plastic wrap. Chill for 1-3 hours.

Preheat your oven to 300F / 150C.

Take out your cookie doughs from the fridge and let them sit in room temperature for several mins until they become slightly less hard. Otherwise, they will crack easily when you cut them.
Cut slices to about 1/4 inch thick.

Line your cookie slices on a parchment paper on the baking sheet.
Bake for 15-18 mins.

While the cookies were in the oven, I decided to be a little creative.

Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a hot water bath.

Stir gradually to prevent burning.

Dip the chocolate into the cookies. Hang on, I meant the other way round.

Let them cool on a rack.
(I couldn't wait. So I popped 5 or 6 of them into my belly before they were set.)

I also made some roasted almond flavoured ones...

...and some plain ones :)

Served with mango flavoured green tea. Oh! So good!

He winked at me trying to lure some of my treats ;)
Sorry, no chocolate for kids. Straight policy.
